2008 marked the last season of baseball at Sarge Frye Field - affectionately known as "The Sarge".

Now, after only two seasons in the New Carolina Stadium, the Gamecocks are:

Quick Facts: Carolina Stadium

Carolina Stadium features:

  • Approximately 5,400 permanent, chair-back seats, with a total capacity of 8,000-plus. There are cup holders at each permanent seat.
  • A picnic terrace down the left-field line which holds about 120 fans.
  • Five suites and two club-level premium seating areas.
  • A larger concession stand menu than Sarge Frye Field, with portable setups on the plaza and concourses.
  • A state-of-the-art video scoreboard that stands 86 feet above the field. The scoreboard is 47 feet high and 44 feet wide, with a video board that is 16-by-28 feet
  • A concourse that runs completely around the stadium.
  • A sand-based field that meets U.S. Golf Association specifications and features 419 Bermuda Turf grass and a special drainage system.
  • Field dimensions that are the same as former baseball stadium Sarge Frye Field - 325 feet down the lines, 390 to center.
  • Outfield walls that vary from 8 to 10 feet in height.
  • An emerald green "batter's eye" in center field that measures 80 feet wide and stretchs 40 feet above the field.
  • Four indoor batting tunnels, a home locker room, a 3,900-square-foot weight room, coaches offices, a sports medicine/athletic training room and a classroom/media room.
